If you do a lot of high quality color printing, you're going to eat through Epson cartridges quickly which means you're going to be paying alot in replacement ink. I've used mine for about 4 years and probably no more than 200 prints. Recently, a sensor problem has appeared which means about a $200 repair. If I had to do this over again, I would have purchased a different brand. No one accepts Epson empties so I have about 50 cartridges that have no value. Annoying.

I've been using this printer for 3-4 years now. I use Epson inks only. I clean the printer by running a special paper from Japan through the machine occasionally. I go through the tedious process of changing between two black inks to fit the needs of the paper. However, this is a great printer. As long as you take care of the machine it will serve your needs for years. I purchased mine as "reconditioned" from the company itself and never had any problems at all. Yes, the inks are expensive but they are excellent and the printer uses so many different colors it is great for photography prints. The black and white images that the Epson produces are fantastic as well. This machine was the one I used all through my digital photography courses in college. Now, it serves the purpose of creating a few prints of my photography to customers. It is a little workhorse. You just have to keep feeding it.

I hate this printer! I hate this brand! The colours are great, but the printer is not reliable! It works when it wants to work, not when you need it to work! It pulls down the paper a million times, but every time it goes through but comes to the other side blank. Other times, it looks like it's going to pull the paper down, but it's just noise and nothing happens. I sell art prints and just spent another couple of hours trying to do ONE print. One single print. And it happens almost every time I need to print something. I had a R1990 before and it was the same - even worse. I got so fed up with it that I thew it away. Far away. Only bought another Epson because I saw many good reviews about the R2880. Since I already had a bunch of Epson paper, I decided to give it another try - but what a waste of money! I also have an Epson WF-2540 that doesn't print at all. Like, ever. I'm so done with Epson!!!!

I've worked with this printer for many years and like every Epson printer I've owned, it's extremely hit or miss. Main problems include dragging the ink heads over the paper leaving tons of black splotches, a consistent issue not loading paper correctly through the roll paper feed, and when it decides it's not going to print on a sheet I've preloaded and advances it through, whatever is grabbing it leaves a visible dent in the middle of the page making an expensive sheet of paper unusable. Epson printers have cost me hundreds of dollars in ruined paper. ...these have been consistent issues over many years with the 2880 and the 2200 before. But when it handles the paper correctly, the prints are beautiful.

I wish it were AirPrint compatible. I would also like to send it back to Epson since they've already made it an outmoded model.
