This speaker, playing podcasts at night by my pillow, helps make my tinnitus more tolerable and helps me get better night's sleep. The sound quality is not great, but it is good enough for my needs. I do not find that I need to use the amplifier. After about six months of nightly use, the wires and connectors are holding up well.

This is a great quality speaker. I am so impressed with the sound quality and especially impressed with the volume adjustment that is on the cable. I have a very thick pillow and I'm still even able to very clearly hear the audio that I have playing to help me sleep at night. I have tried various pillow speakers and found this one to be the best and the best value.

It's flat enough to not be obtrusive, and the volume control is adequate. I don't need to the battery powered amplifier to hear well when connected to my ipad and laying my ear on top of the speaker. The quality of sound is the only negative, but that's to be expected. Don't expect to hear music like you would with top dollar headphones. I use this to listen to lectures, not music, and the voices come through quite clear. It works well for what it is intended for.

This is an excellent pillow speaker--which in fact does work under the pillow but much better if not fully buried. The battery-powered amplifier helps a lot in producing more volume and higher quality. No other speaker we've tried for private listening has that feature so that is a plus. The sound is fine, especially since I just want to enable sound from a device closer to my ears so it won't bother anyone else. I mean, I am not aiming for recording studio quality. Several reviews commented on fragile, easily broken connectors and I hope that problem has been solved, but I've only had this less than 2 weeks so time will tell. I was so pleased with this product that I came to Amazon to purchase a second one but I paid $16 on June 6 and it is now $28--quite a hike. I am leaving it in my saved-for-later stack to see if it comes back down. I had great value for my money at $16.

Use it with environmental sound loops for sleeping. Don't know sound quality for music or spoken word. Pros- - well made and put together - plenty of amplification w/ iPod classic as source - good volume control w/ wide range and no scratchiness/cutouts - won't disturb partner at low-mid volume - intuitive on-off switch - uses AAA rechargeable battery, lasts >25 hrs as I use it - long cord makes for more setup options, resistant to damage from being twisted around Cons - Nothing but one little nitpick - wish control head had tiny LCD indicator when "on." Overall a great product, highly recommend.
