Its battery won’t last long enough. It remains approximately 6 hours. The connection to Hammerhead Karoo 2 is not smooth. Hammerhead displays disconnect too often; more than 20 times per hour.

Used to work. The camera now focused to less than six inches, so pretty much useless. The last few firmware updates may be to blame, but this device is now just a basic - and very expensive - radar. A lot of reports on the Internets around this issue, but nothing from Garmin.

The Garmin Varia RCT715 is the latest iteration of the cycling tech giant’s tail light safety system that alerts you to fast-approaching vehicles and potential close passes. The addition of a rear-facing camera looks good on paper, but the device and accompanying app need refining.

Battery life is quite low. I didnt read thoroughly and was quite dismayed after my first ride to find my battery dead at less than 3 hours of riding. Light was set to flash, camera was running. This will never do what I wanted it to on my long rides. I honestly dont need a radar. It doesnt change my riding behavior bc I always ride to the far right. And it doesnt tell me if a car is going to hit me, just that it is there.
