Montale Paris Aoud Jasmine edp 100ml

While i expected this fragrance to live up to its name , Aoud Jasmine! - it is not quite so. Yes, it contains a strong jasmine note, and a oud is also lurking behind; however, there is also a very strong pear and apple note that almost overpowers oud. The drydown is all about musk and the rotten remnants of those once juicy fruits. So beware, don't trust the name "Aoud Jasmines"! I believe you need to have a very lady like, soft side to enjoy this. It can be worn at a night out (to a club, a restaurant, theatre, coffee etc etc), to a wedding but it would be somewhat exaggerated for a casual morning appearance, I think. But then, everyone has at least one casual perfume, why not a non casual one too. The longevity is not like the typical Montale. I only get about 4 hours out of it after which it becomes a skin scent.

This smells so good. It does not last a long time but it smells amazing. I have gotten so many compliments on this perfume!!

The opening is a fruit basket: ripe Boskoop apples with lots of pears, and a slightly orangey undertone. Overall these top notes are on the bright side. The drydown brings on the jasmine, which is fairly green with a restrainedly powdery and a weakly indolic dyad of characteristics. A rose impression is also noticeable, a pleasant rose that starts as a blossom before expressing mainly rose leaves on me. An amber develops en route to the base. It is not a very dark amber, not sharp, and at times with a sweet touch and laced liberally with white musks. There is no oud in this, not even a petrochemical laboratory oud. I get moderate sillage, very good projection and eight hours of longevity on my skin. A passable spring scent, very generic and lacking any of the oud its name promises. Not bad, but distinctly mediocre. 2.25/5
