The capacity, speed, and design are first-rate. However, I learned the hard way that there is something about the way LaCie drivers are designed that makes this drive problematic for booting a modern, T2-equipped Macintosh (e.g., MacBook Pro with Touchbar and TouchID). And since it seems to be nearly impossible to get support from LaCie, I worked a lot with a company that develops excellent backup software (Carbon Copy Cloner — they have a lot of knowledge/experience with bootable backups), and after a few weeks’ effort, I have no doubt that it was this LaCie drive that was the culprit. To confirm this (and have a bootable backup), I bought comparable drive from Other World Computing, and everything worked perfectly with that drive. My LaCie drive (which was past the Amazon return date or I would have returned it) is being used as network-attached storage, and it is doing just fine.

Great item for the money. I got mine on sale. Would recommend! Write speeds were fair. Still going strong. Only downside is the blinking blue light. Drives my wife crazy I hade to put tape over it.

I would like to reduce the intensity or even switch off the blue 'Operating' light on the front.

Would not work but the supplier immediately authorized a return with no fuss. More a problem with the available Apple adapter than the drive

Terrible drive, died in less than a month being stationary. I never write reviews but was so disappointed in what I thought would be a quality drive. Stick to Wd.
