It is the first warm day of spring, over 20 degrees and the sun is shining. Actually, I had bought the fragrance for autumn; I would see the woody-spicy notes more as a warming scent for cold days - until now. Two sprays were enough to catapult it high up on my spring list. Even after a good five hours, this wonderfully robust scent keeps coming to my nose as I move, and I feel like I am standing in an old East Frisian mill: around me, old wooden beams and dried black tea. It smells much more rounded and harmonious on (my) skin than on paper and is a strong candidate for a signature scent from autumn to spring!

So, I tested Declaration the other day. I didn't like it because of the iris - don't like fragrances heavy on iris, BUT I will say it does have a unique smell for an all around masculine fragrance. My point being, if you like iris, Declaration would be pretty good. Now on to Declaration Parfum. No iris, which I like but now it's more of a dusty, powdery spicy fragrance. Nothing special or unique about it. Whereas Declaration has an anamalic, musky man scent as a base, the Parfum loses it too or it's greatly subdued. I rated it average- just nothing special or FB worthy for me. It does have better performance than Declaration though.

The Déclaration Haute Fraîcheur is a pleasant, fresh fragrance that unfortunately doesn't last long. It starts with a nice citrus opening and slightly sweaty greens, but it quickly becomes weaker. It is very fresh from start to finish and is probably one of the few scents that could easily be worn at the gym. I unfortunately don't perceive any cardamom. That would have certainly been interesting. Overall, the fragrance is definitely more masculine due to the green notes, but it can also be worn by anyone else. It is clearly intended for summer, but it would also work well on very warm days in spring or autumn. Longevity and sillage are unfortunately quite weak. On me, it lasts about 3-4 hours, then I really have to make an effort to even perceive it on my skin. For a designer fragrance, it is really not that expensive. All in all, the Déclaration Haute Fraîcheur is, to be honest, a scent that is too subtle, almost fleeting, but fundamentally appealing.
