Jacques Bogart One Man Show Ruby Edition Eau de Toilette 100 ml

Hard to put into words, this scent. One Man Show Ruby Edition starts off very cherry-like for me, but is supposed to be green apple, lavender, and orange tree leaves. In the drydown, the cedar reminds me of cooled sauna wood - that typical, slightly smoky, woody scent when the heat is gone, but the wood still resonates. An unusual but very fitting comparison that comes to mind every time I wear it. Overall, an exciting and beautiful fragrance that takes its time and doesn’t reveal everything at once. Perfect for cold winter days - warm, woody, with this quirky character that sets it apart from the crowd. Alone: I still can't think of the occasion to wear it. Perhaps during a winter holiday in a cabin in the Lofoten while hiking through the snow at night, with a thermos of rum and tea in my bag.

Overall, this fragrance is a good value for its price point. It reminds me of the cherry-based fragrances released by Tom Ford, but with a designer twist. Although the listed notes include honey and oud, I mainly detect saffron, amber, and hints of green apple tartness. While it doesn't have the projected sillage and longevity some have reported, it lasts a workday and could have been reformulated. The scent is smooth and decently blended, although it does have a slightly synthetic feel. Despite this, it doesn't come across as harsh or screechy. If you're looking for a budget-friendly option, this fragrance is worth considering.

The opening (max. 1 minute) is very, very similar to OMS Gold Edition, then a synthetic yet stylish oud make its appearance. The dry down is a fine tuned sweet-sourish (Red/black grapes and Lychee) and a little bit of animalic touche, reminiscent of Gold Edition, but vaguely in terms of power. Definitely better tamed and balanced than Gold Edition (it goes skin scent much rapidely than Gold Edition), but that not meaning (for me) that Gold Edition is less pleasant. I like both, Ruby for finesse, Gold for manhood. Both are my favourites from Jacques Bogart house. I absolutely hate Oud Edition, it's too offensive oud for me. Red grapes and Lychee... Absolutely nothing in common with Lapidus pour homme, like some said elsewhere. Not cherries, but red flavoured grapes...
