I know this is from years ago, but I wanted to add my 2 cents. This device worked for me. Like the OP, I am a Fitzpatrick type III-IV. I have very thick, dark hair. The issue for me is that the device stopped working after the warranty expired. I called Braun about it, as I was willing to pay to get it repaired because I don't want to drop $500 on a new device, but guess what? They have informed me that the device is simply not repairable, so it is now garbage, going to the landfill. Needless to say, I am beyond upset.

I bought this a month ago after I underwent 5 professional laser hair removal sessions on my chin that worked somewhat but didn’t clear my chin hair up completely. I wanted something I could use on top of these $500 treatments for maintenance. Once I got it I decided to test one side of my bikini line and one leg on the inner thigh where my thick hair makes me get chafing really bad. Well I’m about 4 treatments in and I do notice a difference. The left side that I have been treating is growing in slower and the right side that is untreated is the same. The biggest difference is I’m not getting chaffed on the side I’ve been treating. It only takes 5-10 minutes to treat the areas plus my face.

This is my second time buying this product, I am body hair free except for my bikini line, which has reduced a lot. I recommend this product to everyone who doesn’t want to panic every two weeks to shave their body.
