Panasonic Lumix S5 MARK II X

I bought this camera half a year ago, and I started a videography career with it. You can build almost any artistic vision on the back of this camera. After low-light testing, the S5iix outshot every other camera in it's price range within a thousand dollars. It's a dynamic and powerful workhorse that you can dress up or down depending on your set needs. Only qualm is the rolling shutter. But even that isn't awful. Would recommend for anyone looking for a high-tier hybrid film camera.

The Panasonic LUMIX S5 IIX is a fantastic option for studio video. It supports a wide array of video recording formats, codecs, and resolutions, including 6k open gate recording, low compression All-I codecs, and 4k at up to 60p. With an external SSD, you can also capture ProRes 422 and 422 HQ codecs, while connecting an external recorder allows you to capture RAW video. Video quality is fantastic, with excellent dynamic range and a clean, detailed image. Its autofocus also works remarkably well in video mode. Aside from its fantastic array of recording options and excellent video performance, it's also designed with video in mind, with built-in fans to reduce the risk of overheating, a fully articulated screen, full HDMI port, and mic and headphone jacks. Having said that, the camera's sensor readout speed isn't the fastest, so rolling shutter can be an issue with pans or quick camera movements.

After 37 years with Canon and 15 years EOS Digital,I jumped totally over to the Lumix family with confidence. In october 2024 I invested in the S5iiX and S50/1.8 and S85/1.8. Mainly a stills photographer, I also bought a Smallrig and an Atomos Ninja, embarking the video area as well. What Panasonic has put into their system: intelligent software better than the best, the lenses on par with Leica. Most important is that the L-mount is open standard. The Canon RF-policy is a dead-end, exclusive, over-expensive, big. Lumix has the best package, compact, lightweight and stellar optics. I look forward to more news from Lumix.

Couldn't be happier. The 20-60mm kit lens is great quality for what it is and the 50mm lens is fantastic. They also gave me an 85mm which is great. The camera itself is great for what I need,

I think Panasonic have knocked it out of the park with the s5ii and s5iix nothing to fault on size and build quality, produces great output that for photography requires little post processing colours and tonality wise the best system I have used. The s lenses are great value quality lenses, well made but light, bargains when purchased as part of a kit. Recently released firmware has added hand held high res which is quicker sharper and handles some movement in the scene better than Olympus version ,so great for landscape based on current short usage.
