Clinique Matte Pop Lip Läppstift

I received the shade Bare Pop in a GWP. Going by the name and my history with other nude lipstick shades from Clinique, I had assumed this was also going to be too brown/orange/warm-toned. Boy was I wrong! Bare Pop is a frosty, mauvey-nude shade and it's very flattering against my neutral/light skin tone with soft yellow undertones (NC20-25ish). My only complaint is I wish the finish was glossy rather than having a frost finish, but it's barely there so it's still flattering. It's just that anything frosty reminds me of the 90s...In fact, I think it pairs nicely with another 90's classic...Wet n Wild 666 Brandywine Lip Liner!

I have this in Bare Pop, from a GWP. It's a pretty, sheer, slightly glossy frosted nude, with a very well-balanced mix of pink and beige. I have quite pigmented lips which makes my search for light-medium nudes rather difficult, but this works really well to let through and enhance my natural lip colour. I love the fact that this shade doesn't turn lilac or grey on me like some expensive mistakes I've made looking for a light nude (Bobbi Brown lipstick in Bobbi being one such example). For my skin tone (MAC C40/Clinique WN 48 Oat) this is lovely in the summer with a rosy bronzer (I like Laura Geller Bronze n Brighten) in place of blush. It's neutral enough to work with any tone of makeup look or outfit, and suitable for work if lightly applied. I'd buy the full size when I run out as it's a great summer staple. I've long been a fan of Clinique but in recent years they have really upped their game in makeup formulations and shades to suit all complexions.

I stupidly broke my rule about not buying lipstick online unless I'd seen the colour in person first. I wanted a brown lipstick, which is what Beach Pop looked like online. But it turned out to be more of a muted brownish red. It's a dupe of Revlon's Rum Raisin (which I already had) but at more than twice the price. If you like Beach Pop and want to save some money, have a look at Rum Raisin first.

I have this in Plum Pop which is deep berry pink shade. The color is nicely saturated and the lipstick formula applies creamily. This compliments my pale, cool toned complexion. However, it does not last long on me at all and starts to fade in about an hour after applying this. Contains wheat.
