Mic seems to work good, but when put in holder for tie clip, the plastic holding the mic broke and I never got to use it.

My boyfriend's 100 year old mother is now able to hear other's speak more clearly. She enjoys attending chapel and can now hear the priest.

Not sure. I recorded a meeting with this inserted and the playback volume was very low. I had to hold it next to my ear to hear the recording. I don't know if it was the recorder itself or the mike.that caused the problem.
