I broke my other hood which was always on the lens an it just didn't right without one. I know I could have bought a cheaper screw on hood but like the way Canon designed it and how well it fits.

It is exactly what I needed for my new (albeit used) Canon 10-22 lens. Fits perfectly and does the job I expected it would.

I've used other hoods before they always feel flimsy and never line up correctly with the lens. I think its pretty expensive for what it is... but well worth it!

Not only does it help prevent lens flares, etc.., but it has repeatedly absorbed knocks I'd rather my lens not take. It is on for all of my indoor shots as well. 2 big thumbs up!!
