Super sharp lens, wonderfully built. I'm using the lens for landscapes and am loving it, along with the 90mm. Would have loved for Hasselblad to offer their lenses w/out shutter for half the cost. I'm finding both 45mm and 90mm shutter mechanisms to not be accurate once the exposure is more than a couple seconds, with the lens shutter producing totally different results over the E shutter with exactly same exposure settings. Maybe that's the nature of the lens shutters, but that is silly for the price. Still giving it 5 stars because the image quality is stunning.

So, this was the first XCD lens that I owned. Optically, it's great. The focus ring is smooth and aperture is snappy. But when I got my 90mm and 30mm lenses, I quickly noticed how much sturdier and better made they both seem. Something about the 45mm is just not as well made as the other lenses in the line. It's still a good lens, but if you can only buy one, I'd go with one of the others.

There are two lenses (for now, more to come) and this is the perfect wider, street photography style lens. The 50 megapixels means that everything is still ultra sharp, except this really shows off the world, it also works well for landscapes. Basically a 35ish mm lens.

If the new Hasselblad XCD 45mm f/3.5 lens is anything to go by, Hasselblad X1D owners are going to be delighted by the XCD lens range. The Hasselblad XCD 45mm f/3.5 is a fairly fast and tack-sharp lens that exhibits low chromatic aberrations and very little barrel distortion. Vignetting at wide-open apertures is the only real optical issue of note - stopping down to f/8 solves the problem altogether. Build quality is excellent, with the metal lens mount and sober all-black design adding to the high-quality feel, and Hasselblad have also included a very good metal lens hood and soft cloth bag. Manual focusing is a pleasure, with manual focus over-ride at any time a great feature, although auto-focusing on the X1D proved to be both slow and rather noisy. As the lens that the majority of new X1D owners will purchase, Hasselblad had to ensure that the XCD 45mm f/3.5 was a high-quality optic, and they've certainly succeeded in that aim. It's simply a must-have buy for early X1D adopters.
