For a short while I was convinced all my shredder really needed is a bit of cooking oil (canola or similar) to keep it running. And while that may seem like it works, it really doesn't. Cooking oil found in the kitchen gums up as time passes and will stick to the blades and mess up your shredder. Beware of some shredder oils out there that, even if marketed for this purpose, are just repackaged vegetable oil (eg: Fellowes). This one is synthetic. This means it won't solidify and it has a relatively lower viscosity. It will adequately lubricate the blades and stick to them. This is the type of oil that you should be getting. Caveats: * Application is messy as no applicator is included. The best way to go about it is to pour some on a sheet of paper, which is not ideal. Otherwise, you could use your own applicator. * Rather pricey but less expensive than other offerings on Amazon (eg HSM).

Shredder lube! Seems to do the job just fine for our shredders. Arrived promptly (thanks to Amazon Prime) and well packaged. Great product for the price, wouldn't hesitate to purchase again
