I have owned a few Brauns and all I can say is the reason why they added the cooltec is to cool down skin after rubbing over the same spot numerous times, it's really needed especially around the neck where hairs lie. It can take a lot of runs to cut them in fact it is quicker to use the trimmer edge!! I would love to be one of Brauns testers!! Being such a prominent company I would not have put this on the market. WILL NOT PAY THIS MONEY TO BUY BRAUN AGAIN. Disappointed.

A superb shaver which gives a comfortable and clean finish. The trimmer is also excellent. This is the best shaver I have ever owned.

I was disappointed in 2areas: a) the closeness of the shave. I don't have an especially heavy or dark beard, but it need to shave twice a day now b) the battery life is quite short when using the cooling facility which I like.

gives a smooth, tug-free shave and you can really feel the effect of the cool bar, although using it reduces maximum shaving time to only 15 minutes. The sideburn trimmer works well and also removes clumps of longer stubble easily. Comes with a decent case but no cleaning brushes, which would be useful.

Had a few Braun razors in my time, both expensive and cheap and this isn't bad at all. Not the best mind you, as I think the addition of the cooling bar has compromised the longer hair cutters that live in the middle of the blades - this means that a Monday morning shave with a full weekend of stubble isn't as clean as it was without this cooling technology. Which brings me onto the cooling - it really does work well, you face feels less abrasive after shaving with this razor, and as a result going over the same spot to get a clean shave had less effect on the skin. The battery life is good but the charging stand has a life of it's own due to the tight winding of the cable so you need to make sure the points are connecting when you dock it. So if skin irritation is more important that long stubble growth this is an easy buy.
