I've had this jog saw for about a year. It cuts through wood fairly easy and quick. I found it eats through knots easier than other jigs I've used, and cuts a lot quicker. The barrel design is definitely much more comfortable and easier to handle in my opinion versus the traditional 'D' handle design, and I would never buy a 'D' handle jig ever again after using this one. The jig comes with a case and some blades. Changing blades is really easy too. Just a twist at the neck, and the blade falls right in. It holds tight without any sign of loosening from vibration. A good vacuum sucks up most of the dust, but all in all its a well built Makita Tool. The only thing I didn't like was the plastic clear guard it came with. Mine flew off after a few uses so I just removed it, but other than that it works like a charm for the cuts you need.

Use it for cutting precise curves on work pieces too large for my band saw. It's very easy to use, and the three speeds make cuts easy to manage.

This saw is not cheap, but I am impressed overall. I've worked with a few homeowner jigsaws over the years, but this has been my favourite. It operates very smoothly, does circular cuts well, and has plenty of power to get through all types of material. I wasn't sure about the barrel shape until I'd tried it, but now that I have, I won't go back; there's so much more control using this type of handle. I'm quietly hoping my older jigsaw at the cottage dies so I have an excuse to get a 2nd one of these to replace it :-)

Great jigsaw. A little heavy and I would have liked a variable speed throttle. All in all a well built machine.
