The scanner Epson WorkForce ES-50 Portable Document Scanner was an excellent purchase in every way. For a small, space challenged workspace at home like me,you cannot go wrong. It was overdue so I put it through it's paces from day one. It rose to the occasion every time. Definitely recommend. I say 5 out of 5 stars.

You should be able to use something that dosn't cost $20 to clean this scanner considering how often it's going to need it. Get a microfiber cloth and at least one $20 optional cleaning kit when you buy the scanner. You're going to want to dust all your pages before you scan them because fairly soon you'll have white or black lines on your scans. That's a minor annoyance, however, compared to the fact that the USB-A port began not functioning correctly shortly after the 1-year warranty ended. Now I have to wiggle the cord at the scanner port every time I plug in the scanner for it to connect to my laptop and no, it's not my laptop port because it's any computer I use the scanner with.

The scanner works OK, but I'm constantly having to reload the driver every time I need to use it, which fortunately is only a few times a month. My computer will pop up a message several times a day saying certain dll files can't be found even when I'm not using it or if it's unplugged.
