SteelSeries Apex 5 har utmärkt byggkvalitet med aluminiumtopp och känns solid. De hybridmekaniska brytarna ger behaglig, taktil feedback och är bekväma vid långvarig användning. RGB-belysningen är fullt anpassningsbar per tangent och OLED-displayen ger användbar funktionalitet. Det magnetiska handledsstödet ökar komforten. Nackdelar är relativt hög input-latens för ett trådbundet tangentbord, vilket inte är optimalt för tävlingsspelare. Kabeln är ej avtagbar, vilket försvårar transport. Skrivljudet är ganska högt, så tangentbordet passar sämre i tysta kontor. Dedikerade makrotangenter för MMO-spelare saknas också. Sammantaget ett mångsidigt tangentbord med många funktioner, men med vissa tydliga begränsningar för specifika användare.

This is my first mechanical keyboard, I can't judge performance compared to other keyboards, but compared to my APEX300 membrane keyboard that I wore out after 9 years of good service, it's certain that mechanical is more solid than membrane. Not only for gaming, when typing text, the keystroke is pleasant and precise, the "click" confirms the keystroke. One star less for the GG Steelseries software, which deserves to be simplified. It's a gas factory, but if you like tinkering there are an infinite number of color settings and parameters on this keyboard.

As an FPS gamer, I use the Z, Q, S, and D keys very regularly. In the three years that I have had this keyboard, the Z key has stopped working properly twice. The first time was after two years, but I was lucky enough to still be under warranty and they replaced it for me. A year later, the same thing happened again. I think this type of keyboard is designed for this kind of use, so I don't understand why the famous "Z" key deteriorates so quickly. Overall, the keyboard is good but remains fragile for regular use.

This keyboard is amazing. I love the spacing, feel, and noise. The quality is really good. The aluminum body is great.

I thought that my old hands just couldn't type well anymore. Turns out that they just don't make keyboards like they used to. Except this one; this one might be even better than what they used to make back in the day (before the QuietKey). I can type swiftly and precisely again. The keys make a very satisfying clack, which lets me know that I made square contact with the key. Yet it is not too loud. This keyboard has precisely the feel that I want, and I even like the colors.
