The Microsoft Precision Mouse is a comfortable, high-quality mouse for power users, but it has some shortcomings that keep us from an unequivocal recommendation.

Works, but not as crisp with the pointer as a good gaming mouse.

A great mouse in every way except for two things 1) the plastic where my thumb rests picks up stains really easily. I use my computer with clean hands, I don't eat at my desk and I don't smoke yet still I can see the patch where my thumb rests turning yellow. It looks pretty horrible. 2) the charging cable is not USB-C so you have to be careful to plug it in the right way into your computer and mouse and if you don't have the old USB ports in your computer you will need a dongle. I don't understand why in 2018 all devices don't use USB-C as standard - especially one at this price point. But, as I say - every other thing about the mouse is great.

I started out using the Surface Arc Wireless Mouse, but found that on the work surface I like to edit photographs, I couldn't be precise enough when changing sliders -- For example, it would jump 5 when I wanted to increase it by 1. I figured it was due to the not-so-smooth surface of the table, especially when that mouse only makes contact at the back and front. I didn't want to occupy a USB port just for a mouse, so decided to try the Precision mouse. Even though it is quite a bit larger than the Arc (especially when flattened for transport/storage), the movements are very smooth, and much more to my liking. So this will be my main mouse unless space for packing is very limited. It works well with the Surface Book 2 -- Customization level is fine for me, and it works flawlessly with all the software I use, and to my hands, it is very comfortable and I can use it for hours at a time.
